With our Christian movie reviews, we hope to let you know about the few well known releases each year. We also hope to let you know about many of the other quality Christian movies that you normally wouldn't hear about.

JESUS, HE LIVED AMONG US from The Voice Of The Martyrs is an animated film that depicts the life of Jesus Christ as told by John. It was created as an encouragement as well as an evangelism tool for the persecuted church. It is an accurate telling of the gospel but has a focus on the persecution that Jesus and the early church endured. It is available in the twelve most common languages used in restricted areas in the world. It would be an effective tool for teaching the gospel to all children everywhere and giving them an appreciation of the cost of following Jesus.

CUTBACK from Skipstone Pictures and Bridgestone Media Group is not your typical surfer movie. It is the story of a high school surfer and how he comes to faith in Jesus Christ. We get to experience the true raw emotions of a young man and his struggle to make sense of the world and understand his gift. This would be a very good movie for teenagers to see.

HEAVEN IS WAITING from Bridgestone Media Group is a terrific romantic comedy with a message. It is a story of learning to let go and move on. You will laugh and cry as a father goes through the struggle of seeing his little girl grow up as well as dealing with the loss of his wife. This is a great movie for couples to just settle in and enjoy!

RECONCILIATION is a must see movie for Christians that have strained and broken family relationships. It is a great story of forgiveness and redemption. With a biblical look at the "gay lifestyle" it might make some uncomfortable but it is scripturally solid. It will have you crying and cheering as we get to see love and compassion in action.

Sidney Poitier gives an outstanding performance in THE LAST BRICKMAKER IN AMERICA from Phase 4 Films. It is truly a wonderful story of hurt and healing in the family. You will laugh and cry as you watch the soft spoken Henry Cobb (played by Sidney Poitier) help to remind a family about priorities. This is a wonderful film for teenagers to watch with their parents.

THE MIRACLE OF THE CARDS from Bridgestone Multimedia Group is an inspiring movie based on a true story. We are taken on a wonderful ride of ups and downs as we wait to see what God is going to do. The movie can remind us that God is at work in all things for the good of those who love Him. It is a film that is just going to leave you feeling great!

ROAD TO EMMAUS from Boettcher/Trinklein Television Inc. is a short (30 minute) film that depicts the events described in Luke chapter 24. We watch as the two disciples walk and talk with Jesus. The movie is very good at explaining how the Old and New Testaments tell of the same Messiah. We highly recommend the movie to everyone but especially for those that are newer in their faith as it can be a very good tool to help them to understand their faith.

THE ANIMATED PASSION from NestFamily includes two animated movies in one that tell the story of Jesus Christ. The dvd features both Spanish and English language versions with subtitles as well as sing-along songs for the kids to learn. The stories are biblically accurate and will keep the attention of the children and help them to learn.

THE RUNNER FROM RAVENSHEAD from Little Crew Studios is a wonderful, exciting, funny adventure for the entire family. An all child cast tells us the story of the Cities of Refuge from the Old Testament. The film combines humor with a very good message and you may even be standing up and cheering for Sam on her run. The story is entertaining but also can open up a discussion of sin and mercy.

A CRY FROM IRAN is the true story of Haik Hovsepian, an Iranian Christian leader who was killed because of his service of Jesus Christ. This award winning documentary film was directed by his two sons and it combines historical as well as hidden-camera footage of the cost of following Jesus in Iran. It is not just a story of what the government did to their father but it is also an inspirational story of forgiveness and love.

WWJD? from Nasser Entertainment features John Schneider (from The Dukes Of Hazzard tv show) as a messenger from God to a small town in California. The story is inspiring as we watch a town transformed by people simply asking themselves "What would Jesus do?"

PILGRIM'S PROGRESS: JOURNEY TO HEAVEN from DRC FILMS is a modern telling of the classic by John Bunyan. The movie has wonderful special effects and a powerful message. It reminds us that Jesus never said it would be easy to follow him. We watch as Christian (the main character) struggles in his walk with the Lord and can relate it to our daily struggles.

THE RIVER WITHIN, from Cloud Ten Pictures, is a story about answering a question that we have probably all asked ourselves: What am I doing here? In this movie, we get to watch as a man learns the answer and how God has given him a gift. It is a reminder to us all that God has given each of us gifts and passions that we are to use to reach the world around us.

LETTERS TO GOD is a wonderful story from Possibility Pictures that was released in 2009. It is a story of how a little boy with brain cancer taught a town about prayer. The mailman is faced with a dilemma, how do you deliver letters addressed to God? His answer to that question coupled with the faith of a young boy will have you at times laughing out loud and at others bawling your eyes out. It is a touching tale of faith and friendship that is based on a true story.

A CHRISTMAS SNOW, from Trost Moving Pictures, is a wonderful story for the Christmas season. Just as Jesus came for the forgiveness of our sins, this story is also a tale of forgiveness. A woman that is bitter from her past is snowed in with two strangers at Christmas time. We get to watch as she learns about forgiveness and healing. It is a wonderful story for the entire family.

HOMELESS FOR THE HOLIDAYS from Breathe Motion Pictures is a wonderful film based on a true story and features Matt Moore, Crystal Dewitt-Hinkle, Brad Stine, and Russo George. The film allows us to watch the transformation of a family from being self-centered to caring about their fellow man. The story takes us on a wild roller coaster ride of emotions with laughter as well as tears. Every family should watch this movie before Christmas day. The message is powerful and a good reminder of what is truly important especially during the bustling holiday season.

THE PERFECT STRANGER from Kelly's Film Works and City On A Hill productions is a wonderful story. We get to watch as a woman that is not saved has dinner with Jesus. She asks him many questions that you have probably either asked or wanted to ask someone about. We get to witness a transformation in the woman while getting a sound lesson in the gospel. You will probably laugh, cry, and come away from the movie feeling good. It would also be great to view the movie with someone you know that is lost.

In the documentary film PRAY THE DEVIL BACK TO HELL, we are told the inside story of how prayer was used to bring about the end of the civil war in Liberia. It is the story of women binding together in prayer and in action to stop the ravages of war. It is also the story of forgiveness as we are told of how women that were raped and abused forgave the men and even prayed for them. It is a very powerful story that will take you through a wide range of emotions as you witness the outrages of war, the elation at its ending, and the love that was able to start the healing. The film was a winner of Best Documentary at the TRIBECA film festival and is recommended for adults.

EVAN ALMIGHTY is a 2007 movie starring Steve Carell as a modern day Noah and Morgan Freeman as God. The movie has a PG rating but it is very funny and we find it appropriate for the entire family. The movie leaves us with a good message which is to listen and follow God even when there is opposition. The movie can be rented or purchased on dvd.

NOT EASILY BROKEN is a movie (rated PG-13) that is based on a book by T.D. Jakes and depicts the real world struggles of being in a marriage. At times the language that is used and some of the themes are not "Christian" but they seem necessary to tell the story. It is a good story based on the Biblical principle that a chord of three strands is "not easily broken" and that God has to be at the center of a marraige for it to be strong. This is a good movie for couples to watch but we would not recommend it for children.

FAITH LIKE POTATOES is a movie that was originally made in 2006 and released in South Africa but has now been released on DVD for rental or purchase in the United States. This is a wonderful movie that can inspire you in your faith. It is a story of a farmer and his faith. It has a very good lesson about the meaning of faith and especially faith when others oppose you and think you are crazy. You can rent the DVD or purchase it online at globalcreative.co.za

FIREPROOF is the latest release from Sherwood Pictures and they have done it again! It is simply amazing how God is using that congregation from Albany Georgia to reach the world. This is an excellent film for couples that are going through some rough times in their marriage as well as couples thinking about getting married.

This film features Kirk Cameron as a firefighter with a marriage that is on fire and headed for destruction. Through this story it is easy to see the importance of Jesus Christ being the center of any marriage.

The movie FLYWHEEL was the first movie from SHERWOOD PICTURES and was made in 2004. The story of how the movie came to be is in itself worthy of a movie. How a local church took $20000 and made a movie is just amazing and truly a "God thing".

FLYWHEEL is the story of a "Christian businessman" who tried to separate his being a Christian from his business. If we admit it, most of us probably have been through a similar situation and this film can inspire us all to grow in our walk with the Lord. The story will not only make you shed a tear but you will probably laugh a little too.

The central theme is that there is a turning point in every man's (or woman's) life and, when you reach that point, you do not look back you just serve the Lord.

ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING from GENER8XION ENTERTAINMENT tells the story of Esther from the Old Testament book. This is a good movie for married couples to curl up together and watch. For the most part it tells the biblical account but there is a lot of romance and background information added. It is a good story about how God puts people in certain places at certain times and gives them the opportunity to serve Him. It also points out how our obedience to His will can affect others.

END OF THE SPEAR, from EVERY TRIBE ENTERTAINMENT, is the true life story of five missionary families in the Amazon jungle. It was released in January 2006. Although the movie does contain a lot of violence, it is necessary to tell the story. This is a wonderful story of forgiveness and is a must see for every mature Christian.

In Bethlehem Star, Rick Larson presents a fascinating look at the events that took place in the sky both at the birth of Jesus and at His crucifixion. We have all heard people say that the amazing events such as a star stopping in the sky or the sky going totally dark at noon could not have happened. But, in this film, the biblical accounts are backed up by scientific observations and common sense. You will need to be able to pay attention and concentrate through this presentation but it really is all put together at the end.

This inspirational film will leave you amazed at what God has done. You will truly have a new appreciation of just how big and in control God is!

Kyle shares with us the story of preparing for and leading a whitewater rafting trip and also a mountain climbing expedition. The movie combines lots of action and beautiful scenery with an inspiring look at overcoming perceived limitations.

This would be a good movie to buy and hold onto for those days when you feel like having a pity party. (It's ok to admit it. We all have days like that.)
