Cans For The Captives, How God Takes Garbage And Uses It...

Isn't God amazing? Only He could come up with and implement the ministry of CANS FOR THE CAPTIVES. God tends to use the rejected and humble things of this world to serve His purposes. Just look at what John the Baptist said about himself. In Matthew 3:11, John says "... whose sandals I am not fit to carry." That refers to an Aramaic expression that simply means not worthy to be his servant. Like John the Baptist, we should consider it an honor to be a servant of Jesus Christ.

God must have a sense of humor and it is funny how He works sometimes. He has taken a redeemed alcoholic and used him to pick up aluminum cans (which are mostly empty beer cans) along the roadside to expand His kingdom. That is how CANS FOR THE CAPTIVES got started but that is not all that God wants to do with His plan.

This ministry is for everyone and can help each one of us to grow in our faith. If you drink beverages from aluminum cans, you can begin at home by saving the empty cans and then recycling them. This can be a tool to remind you each and every day that God has redeemed you from your garbage pile of sin. It can also be a very valuable tool to teach your kids about Jesus Christ.

They can learn, in a very simple way, what it means to be recycled for Christ. You can take the money that you receive from that trash and give it to God's work which is the expansion of His kingdom. The second stage of this ministry can help you to minister in your workplace. You should pray for your place of work and talk to your boss about collecting the cans from your breakroom, lounge, etc. This can not only help you but will also get your fellow workers to ask you about what you are doing. This is an opening that you can use to share about your faith, this ministry, and your local church. This will make you grow in your walk with the Lord as it will give you practice and confidence in sharing how the Lord redeemed you (just like the cans you are redeeming from the landfills). Before you even realize it, you will be able to talk to anyone at anytime about your faith!

You can also implement Cans For The Captives in your local church. You can simply put receptacles at the church and have the members bring their empty cans when they come to worship. Wouldn't that be a great way to get prepared to worship our Lord?

We would be glad to help you to implement Cans For The Captives into your Christian walk. You can contact us for assistance.

We ask that you would prayerfully consider this ministry. And, if you are lead by the Lord to do so, we invite you to share the money and blessings you receive with this ministry. You can do so by sending part or all of the money you receive from the "redeemed" cans to this ministry.

The money will be used to expand and upgrade this website as well as to expand the outreach and evangelism ministries of the Church. You can rest assured that we will give God the glory for all that happens and we look forward to your partnership.
