Petra Ballet Company, Worship Through The Arts...Petra Ballet Company is a non-profit professional ballet company based in Springfield, Missouri. The company/ministry was started in 2008 by Jason and Kim Raymond. They have a simple goal of exalting the name of God, promoting revival in hearts through worship, and making known the name of Jesus through excellence in the arts. Jason serves as the Executive Director while Kim is the Artistic Director and they are joined in serving by dancers from across the USA.All of the members of the company are professionally trained and experienced ballerinas who have heard the call of God in their lives. The company productions are a blend of classic technique with a modern flair. They participate in worship at local churches as well as touring each year to spread the gospel. They also offer dance workshops, creative worship classes, and demonstrations. They also have a pre-professional trainee program for those that would like to train in ballet as well as explore their calling. This is a chance to get to know the company and see if that is a place that God is calling dancers to serve. The company is another example of how God will use the gifts and talents that He has given to each and every one of His children. In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul explained that there are various spiritual gifts and they all have a part in the building up of the body of believers called the Church. He went on to compare the different gifts with the body, its various parts, and how they work together to make the body whole. These dancers are in fact dancing preachers/teachers as God uses their talents to minister to others by sharing His word.
Petra Ballet Company offers training through dance workshops, master classes, and creative worship sessions. All classes are taught by the company members and include ballet technique, pointe, conditioning, and PETRA repertoire. Classes are offered at all levels. Dance workshops consist of three consecutive classes over the course of one day. Classes offered may include ballet, pointe, beginning jazz, conditioning, improvisation, and PETRA repertoire. Two day workshops are also available.
