Daniel Chapter Ten part 2, A study of Daniel 10:8 & 9, Daniel 10:10 & 11, and Daniel 10:12

Daniel 10:8 & 9

"So, I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless. Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground." NIV translation

When Daniel heard the Lord speaking to him, he fell to the ground in a deep sleep. We notice that he fell forward with his "face to the ground" which is the normal reaction when man comes into contact with God. There are a lot of phony services today where people are supposedly touched by the Spirit of God and fall backwards. I have seen this happen and usually it is because a man is pushing them back in an attempt to deceive people.

Daniel 10:10 & 11

"A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. He said, 'Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.' And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling." NIV translation

Now, Daniel  is greeted by an angel sent from God and this is the next level in the order of battle.

Angels report to God and are sent to deliver messages to men. People do not become angels when we die and angels may appear like a man but they do not become men.

At this level of the opposing force are fallen angels which are referred to as demons. An easy way to tell the difference is that angels always lift man up and refuse to be worshiped while demons are consumed with pride just as their leader is.

Daniel 10:12

"Then he continued, 'Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.'" NIV translation

The angel informs Daniel that he was sent as soon as he had humbled himself and cried out to God. We must understand that God is the same today as He was in Daniel's day and so, when His people humble themselves and cry out, He hears immediately and acts immediately. We may not see the answer immediately but we can rest assured that our Father has heard and sent the answer.
